Gaffigan’s second program at the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, on July 29, features Requiem: Songs for Sue, which the late British composer Oliver Knussen—one of the most acclaimed voices of the late 20th and early 21st centuries—wrote to mourn the untimely passing of his wife, who died in 2003 at the age of 53. The work is performed by a 15-member orchestra and the renowned American soprano Tony Arnold, who sings texts by Rilke, Emily Dickinson, Antonio Machado, and W. H. Auden.
